CRICKET.
Tho usual weekly meeting of the Management Committee of tho Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held in the British Empire Hotel last evening, Mr. W. F. Cederwall (President) being in the chair. Air Bimbler was appointed groundsman for the season, at- a_salary of 9s per day for three, days per week. Among the correspondence was a communication from Air. W.-L. dayton, /intimating that ho would make his to the funds of the Association. . ■ The President intimated that Air. R. S. Chilton had requested him to inform the Association that he would donate £2 2s to the Association, and would supplement this donation by a further £8 8s if continuance was carried ot the coining elections. Votes of thanks were carried to Alessrs- Clayton and Ghillon for their donations. It was decided to commence the Thursday competition on Thursday next, and the To Ran and Cosmopolitan Clubs were drawn to meet. As the latter club has not yet forwarded a list of their players'to the Association, it was decided that Te Ritts-and United should moot on Thursday next in the first game of tho competition. It was arranged to start, the Saturday competition on Saturday next, and the draw resulted as follows:—United v. Te Rau, at Victoria Domain ; Wanderers v. Taruheru, at Taruheru. Air. F. S. Knight, a delegate of the Taruheru Club, intimated that his club would be unable to come into town for competition matches. In order that the Association should suffer no pecuniary loss, the Taruheru Club had agreed that ground, fees should be payable for ail matches played at Taruheru. It- was decided that all matches against Taruheru be played at Taruheru, and a vote of thanks was passed to the Taruheru Club for their offer.
It was decided that Thursday competition matches be confined to one day during the first round. Mr. F. H. Dennis, hon. secretary of the Waingake Club, attended, and said his club would bo pleased if the Association would -arrange a match on Victoria Domain tor the 31st inst., tlie Saturday after the Show. It was decided to accede to the request, and all competition matches arranged for that day were postponed. The Wiaingake Club were asked to forward the names of their eleven, in order that, the selection committee' for the Association could decide on the strength of the team to meet them.
Motions were carried that the captains of the various elevens be responsible- for the collection of ground fees. The ground committee were instructed to- have the grass in the outfield round the concrete wicket cut in readiness for the opening of the Thursday 'competition to-morrow.
