SWIMMING.

GISBORNE CLUB.

The committee of tho Gjsborno Swimming Club met in the Gisborne School last evening to make all necessary arrangements for their opening day on October 24th. It was decided to connnonco tho carnival at 2.15 p.m. and several loading business men of the town will give speeches. Tlie following will be the programme of events: 50yds Invitation. Scratch Race, Neatest Header, 50yds Junior Handicap, 75yds Handicap, Obstacle R,ace, 100yds Teams Race Handicap. Entries for all events close with Mr. H. Miller, tailor, at 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23rd, and any person entering for any event will bo looked upon as an intending member of the club. It was also decided that all entries shall bo free. A largo amount of routine business- was also transacted.
