AUCKLAND, October 11. A football match under Northern Union rules between Taranaki and Auckland was played here yesterday in perfect weather. There was an attendance of about 3.000, and. the game was an attractive exhibition.

A groat deal of oxcitoment- was caused in the later stages of tho gumo by Taranaki passing Auckland s scoro. During tlio last fow minutes Auckland scored a converted try, and thus won by 21 points to 18. Tries woro scored for Auckland by AV. .1 yler, McDonald, llowo, AVynyard, and Marshall, and goals wo/o kicked by Tyler, T. Houghton, and Marshall. For Taranaki, Buckland, AV. McLean, and Hooker (2) scored tries, and Hardgroaves kicked threo goals.
