SYDNEY, October 5. Tliore was beautiful weather for the second day of the A.J.C. spring meeting, which was largely attended. The following are the results: Tho Shorts, six furlongs.—Soultime 1, lolaire 2, Malt Rose 3. There were sixteen starters. Soutlino led into the straight, and below tlie distance had everything beaten, and won easily by two lengths. Time, linin 12] sec., an Australian, record for the distance. 'New Stakes (for three-year-olds), one mile and one furlong.—Lord Nolan 1, Vavasor 2, Perkeo 3. There were seven starters. Won easily. Time, lrnin 54fsce. The Aletropolitan, one and a-lmlf miles. —Alooltan 1, Peru 2, Alaranui 3. Tho non-starters were Lord Nolan,’ Alentmoro, and Sy-ilin. There was a good start. Passing the stand Alonobel, Proportion, and Lady AA 7 ildo had headed the field. Leaving tho straight-Alonobel and Proportion were clear of Lidy Alcalde and Lord Fitzroy. Reaching the mile post . Eric went to tho front from Alonobel and Proportion, and maintained the lead, a couple of lengths ahead. Kyeadgerie and Plunder fell between the six and seven furlong posts. At. the five furlong post Proportion joined Eric and at the half-mile Eric, Proportion, and Alonobel were in possession. The order was maintained round the bend and Eric and Proportion were first into the straight from Mooltan and Alaranui, with Peru coming fast. Below the distance Alooltin 6hot out in grand style, winning easily by two lengths, Peru three lengths from Alaranui. Cross Battery was never prominent. First Steeplechase, about two and -a-half miles.- —Pilot 1, Confederate 2, Thelma Dash wood 3. ’ There were thirteen starters. Pilot led all the way, and won by three lengths. Time, smin 41 sec. Tho Breeders’ Plato (for two-year-olds), five furlongs.—Tilka 1. Tho winner led to the straight, then ran right away, winning by half-a-dozen lengths. Time, lmin isec. Squatters’ Handicap, one and a’quarter mile. —AVar Star 1, Hoiro 2, Cla-ydon 3. There were ten starters. AVo'n by a length. Time, 2min Sjsec.
