CRICKET.
UNITED CLUB.
Tho annual general meeting of the United Cricket Club was held last evening at the British Empire Hotel, when there was a good attendance of members. Air. R. -G. Hallamoro presided, and informed tho meeting that the report and balaiico-s'heot, which were of a satisfactory nature, would come before the Club at a later meeting. The following now members were elected Dr. B. Aloore-Simpson, Alessrs A 7. Harre, F. E. Gaddum, AV. H. Powell, T. Armstrong, F. H. AA 7 . Traill, and J. H. Russell. The following officers were elected for tho ensuing season: —Patron, Judge Jones; president, Air. AV. Pottie ; vice-presidents, Lieut.-Colonel Winter, Alessrs A. AV. Rees, R. Tliel-w-all, AV. E. Goffo, AV. F. Cederwall, R. Johnston, and C. AVhito; lion secretary and treasurer, Air. AA 7 . A. J. Gibson; captain, Air. R. G. Hallamore; vice-captain, Dr. B. AlooreSampson ; selection committee, captain, vice-captain, and Air, J. Bowman; committee, Messrs J. Bowman, A 7. Harre, H. B. AVliyte. and officers ex officio; delegates to Poverty Bay Cricket Association, Alessrs Hullamore and AV. Gibson; auditor, Air. H. E. Dodd. It was decided to entor elevens for both the Saturday and Thursday senior competitions, and Alessrs J. Gibson, Harre, Armstrong, and Bowman wore appointed a sub-committee to organise a Thursday eleven. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter to Air. H..E. Hill, conveying tlie Club’s appreciation of his long and valuable services as secretary and treasurer. A r otes of thanks were pissed to Judge Jones -(patron), nd ATessrs AA". Pet-tie (president), Thehvall, and Goffe •(vice-presidents), land Aressrs A. AA 7 . Rees and AA 7 . Lissant Clayton for donations to the Club. A vote of thanks was also accorded to Alessrs Tholwa.ll, Goffe, and Lieut.Colonel Winter for their services as umpires during the past season. The Chairman intimated, amidstapplause, that Alessrs Ryan Bros., through their Gisborne manager (Air. J. H. Russell) offered a- handsome trophy for competition amongst the United Club’s members, the awarding of which would be -left in the hands of the committee. It was decided to commence practice at A 7 ictoria Domain on Saturday afternoon next, w-lien as many members as possible are expected to he present. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting.
