WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. During tlio discussion oil tho Public Works Estimates this afternoon, Mr. Horrios oxpresed a hope that the' Government, as soon as possible, would arrivo at a decision regarding the roiito of tho East Coast railway. In referring to tlio survey work already 7 carried out, ho asked whether tlio Minister would lay tho dotailg-of these on tlio table he (Mr. HerrJ.es) moved for a return.

Tho Minister intimated his willingness to supply -that information. Mr. Horrios also expressed a -liopo that a larger proportion of this year’s vote for the Gisborne end would bo spoilt than last year’s proportion, which was only > somo £9OOO odd out of £20,000. Tho Minister said that a number of additional men had been put on lately.
