Messrs Richardson and Co.’s Fanny arrived from Napier .yesterday mornin" and returned again in the evening. She brought a large quantity of general cargo for this port, including refrigerating machinery .consigned to Mr. D. J. Barry and pipes for Messrs Nelson 'Bros. The Huddart-Parker Co.’s Minimen. arrives from South to-morrow morning and leaves later for Auckland and Sydney. Outward passengers leave the wharf by the Tuatea at 10 a.m. The U.S.S. Co.’s Tiluno returns from Auckland on Sunday afternoon and continues her voyage South m the evening. . . The U.S.iS. Co.’s Squall is duo to ( leave Auckland to-day for Gisborne, via Tologa Bay. The auxiliary schoon*/r Kaeo was engaged in loading cargo all day yesterday, and will probably sail to-day for Coast ports and Auckland. The ketch Coronation is also en- „. gaged loading and will sail for Tologa Bay and M’hitianga to-morrow or Sunday. The schooner Awanui leaves Auckland to-day for Tologa Bay and Gisborne with a quantity of general cargo, and a consignment of timber for Messrs Evans, Nield anl Co. The same firm is .also expecting a steamer shortly from Greymouth with a cargo of timber.
The barque Empreza, 236 tons, k to proceed from Auckland to Noumea with a general cargo, and will afterwards load guano at Surprise Island for New Zealand. The Tyser Co.’s steamer Star of Neav Zealand is to be despatched from London on October 20‘.h for Sydney and New Zealand ports,'in place of the Tomoani. The London correspondent of tin Auckland “Herald” writes under date August 21st:—The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s new steamer Tai■nui will be launched on the 27th of this month. She is to sail for New Zealand on November 12th, and passengers are already booking by her. She will be in charge of Captain Aloffatt, late of the s.s. Mamari, and lie’ chief engineer will probably he Mr George Arthur, who his been superintending the erectior of the engine. l and the construction of the steamer generally. At the launch of the epoch making Otaki on Saturday, Colonel Denny made the interesting state ment that.the New Zealand Shipping Company had just given his firm ar order for -a larger and finer sister ship to he employed in the frozen meat trade. ..
