The practice of holding open air meetings in Cathedral Square, Christchurch, Bias assumed such proportions, anil lias interfered so- much with the traffic of this naturally busy portion of Christchurch, that the question of prohibiting gatherings in the Square is understood to be the subject of negotiations between the police and the municipal authorities. Although the enforcement of a bylaw to give effect- to such a proposal would rob some citizens on whose hands time sometimes Oia-ngs heavily. of breaks to the monotony of existence, there is little doubt that it would be conducive to the more orderly government of the city.
