WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.
SUCCESS IN DUNEDIN,
FINE ACHIEVEMENT OF THREE LADS.

DUNEDIN, Sept. 10. A notable achievement in wireless telegraphy oil the part of three boys, aged respectively 16, 17, and 17 years, has attracted some public attention. The boys, Rawson Stark, Stanton. Hicks, and Cyril Brandon, have for two years been experimenting and <as a result of patient labor and many failures have fitted up three stations, one at Kew (Caversham), another at Anderson’s Bay, and a third at Ravensbourne. This evening messages from the Mayor of West Harbor to the Mayor of Dunedin were 6ent and replied” to between the Anderson’s Bay and the Ravensbourne stations, and a message was also flashed .across these points by the boys and then sent to the Postmaster-General and Parliament. The sending and receiving of the messages referred t<> were supervised by Messrs A. J. Talbot and E. Falck. of the Dunedin Telegraph Department, and both operators speak in high terms of praise of the success achieved by the lads. The rate at which the messages were sent was about five or six words per minute. A number of citizens' connected with the railway department, shipping interests, and electrical engineering were present, and spoke highly of the work accomplished. Subsequently a message was received from the Premier conveying to the young inventors the sincere appreciation of himself and members of Parliament for tlieir message.
