PUBLIC MEETING BROKEN UP. IRELAND’S UNFITNESS FOR HOME RULE. United Press Association, Copyright (Received Sept. 7, 9.53 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 7. Prior to the United Irish League’s T meeting at Newcastle . West (County Limerick), where considerable friction . exists between the rural, and urban ' m ' / tenants on the Earl of Devon 6 estate over the impending sale, a body ol men from Tommafullan, stating that Mr. William O’Brien, M-P., had disapproved of the gathering, demohe lied the platform. Mr. T. M. Nettle, M-P., was thrown down, cut about tho face and kicked. Mr. S. L. Gwynne, M-P., was also assaulted. The police then arrived, and enabled the meeting to proceed. Mr. Nettle, in his speech, said he half-doubted the fitness of the people for Home Rule. He wanted Home Rule to be a rule of reason and argument.
