DEATH AT TE ARAI.
A SUDDEN GALL.
The police received information about 8.30 a.in. yesterday that an elderly man named James Cookery had been found dead in his bed at tho Maori pall, To Arai. Deceased, who had been a resident of Te Aral for over thirty years, was a man between fifty-five anil sixty years of ago, and he was first discovered to be dead by a Maori child,' who informed Mr. Robert Preston, and he in turn communicated with tho authorities. Mr. Cookery, who has been in failing health for some considerable time; came into town last Friday and obtained medical advice, and also a bottle of medicine, which was found beside bis lied.
Constable Dandy was at once despatched to Te Arai, and arrangements have been made ' for a post-mortem examination and inquest, to be held there at 3 p.m. to-day. Sergeant Hut ton will conduct he enquiry before Mr. W. E. Akroyd, ActingCoroner.
