AVANGANUI, August 20. AVhelch’s backer wires to “A’ictor” the “Herald’s” aquatic contributor, that the Akaroa sculler has reconsidered his decision, and intends accepting tho challenge of Thoroughgood for the championship of Australia. .

CHRISTCHURCH. August 20. A paragraph published yesterday to the effect that AA’helch had decided not to accept the challenge issued by Tlio roughgood to row for the championship of Australia, has been contradicted by the Akaroa correspondent of the “Lyttelton Times,” who states that AVhelch has now decided to accopt the challenge, and that the stakes have been subscribed by Akaroa residents.
