HOCKEY.

POVERTY BAY ASSOCIATION.

The usual weekly meeting of the Poverty Bav Hockey Association was held iu the Royal Hotel last evening. Present: Messrs Grant (chairman), Lewis, Olsen, Roderick, and SargisA letter was received from the Ladies’ Club re playing tho visiting Wapiti (Napier) Club.—lt was decided that permission be granted for Thursday, 20tli. from 3 o’clock, -and that the’ Rugby Union be communicated with re granting the use of the ground to the Hockey Association on the following Friday and Saturday, 21st and 22nd. • Arrangements were made to meet the Nelson representatives, who arrive to-div by the s.s. Victoria from Auckland. The team is to be taken by brake .to fho Victoria Domain from tho steamer, and after the match to be taken with home team to the Coronation Hotel to dinner, and at seven p.m. to the launch. It was decided to have two referees. Mr. Pavitt was appointed as one, the other to be appointed by the visitors.

Arrangements have been completed for tlio representative hockey match between the local team and the tourin''’ Nelson team, who aro passing through Gisborne this afternoon, on their way home from Auckland. The time of the match has been fixed at 3 p.m., but this, of course, depends on tho time of the arrival of the steamer, as tho visitors leave again for south in the evening. An interesting game is anticipated, and the visitors are reported to be a fairly strong combination, while the local representatives aro also considered to he almost as good as could have been selected. The following are the teams : Nelson.: J. Le Motteo (captain), P. C. Hurst (vice-captain), A. Marks, M. Staples, K. "Walker, J. Boyce, F. Tavlor, G. King, A. Dee, C. Spear, B.‘Chisholm, A. (Ryder, A. Croudis, J. H. Savage (manager).. Poverty Bay: 'F. Pettie, J. Doyle, Coleman, McLean, B. Grant, O. R. Olsen (captain), Tabernacle, D. Roderick, Pine, Bright, Pollock. At the conclusion of tho match the teams will dine together at the Coronation Hotel.
