AN AUCKLAND SCENE.

[Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 6. A no-licensc resolution led to something in the nature of a scene at Knox Church, Parnell, last night. After the ordinary business of the annual meeting a proposal was submitted, expressing full sympathy with the temperance movement, aiid appointing a no-license committee. The Her. Mr. iSimpson said he thought the motion would have the full sympathy of the congregation, but Mr. John Earl protested vehemently against a semi-political subject being introduced into church work. The Rev. Mr. Simpson said that they knew lie was an out-and-out prohibitionist. If they did not like it they could fell him so. Eventually the resolution was submitted arid carried by 27 to 10, several present not voting,
