TURKEY’S “EVIL GENIUS” ESCAPES. FOREIGN OFFICIALS ASKED TO WITHDRAW. United Press Association, Copyright (Received August 4, 9.30 p.m.) CONSTANTINOPLE, August 4. The steamer Mania, was ordered to proceed, as no extradition treaty exists. Chiefs of Bulgarian and Albanian bands fraternised at Salonika. Tho Committee of the Union of Progress is receiving numerous communications demanding the. withdrawal of foreign gendarmerie officers, now that constitutional order is established.
Tho Committee express the hope that the Powers will voluntarily recall their representatives. The Committee prevented the Turkish warships anchored in the Gulf of Salonika from leaving for DedeajJiatch, though the Sultan ordered them to do so.
[The steamer Maria was stopped at the Dardanelles with Izzet Pasha, (Turkey’s “EvU Genius”) aboard, pending commuunieation with the Embassy regarding liis surrender.]
