There is a tremendous sea running all along the coast. The coastal rivers aro flooding, lhe Cobargo mail coach was washed away when crossing the Bega river. lho driver managed to swim ashore. During the gale, a French-Cana-dian named Legros had a thrilling adventure. Whilst fishing at Newcastle, he was blown out to sea, and passed a terrible night. The lookout, on tho steamer Colac heard cries before dawn, 20 miles east of Newcastle. The vessel hovo-to till daylight, when Legros was discovered and rescued.
