POVERTY BAY CLUB. Saturday afternoon was an off-dav at the Poverty Bay Golf Club’s links, no competition being down on tlie card. The weather was delightfully fine, and a fair number of players of both sexes took the opportunity to get in practico. During the afternoon. Geoff. AVillock (handicap 5) and J. Howie (10) met in the semi-final of the handicap tournament. An interesting game resulted, Willoek being one up on the outward journey. On tile homeward course the younger player still further increased his lead, and was four up with four to play at tho fourteenth hole. The fifteenth hole was halved, Willoek thus winning by four up and three to play. Tho winner took 97 for the round, and, though not at tho top of his form hy any means, played some fine holes, reeling off four fours in succession at the start of tho round. AVillock has now to meet F. H. AV. Traill (2) in. the final, and a. really interesting contest r.hould result.

THE WILSON CUP. RETAINED BY NAPIER. [Press Association.] NAPIER. August 2. A team from Palmerston North played a team from the Napier Golf Club on the AVaiolii'ki links on Saturday for the AVilson Cup. Tho Napier team won by 6J points to 3, and thus retain the cup.
