THE PUBLIC MIND POISONED. THE PAYMENT OF SALARY. United Press Association. Copyright DURBAN, July 31. Dinizulu protests that tho prosecution has poisoned the public mind against him, and selected criminals and personal enemies to testify to untruths against him. It would have boon easy to establish his innocence .if his lawyers had boon permitted to enter Zulu laud.
In the Natal Parliament, Mr. illulott deolared that a serious result would ensuo if an autonomous colony wore placed at tho mercy and caprice of irresponsible outsidors. The rankest treason wns now being preachod to largo assemblages of natives. 'Ultimately a motion for the reopening of negotiations for tho payment of Dinizulu’s salary in order to establish friendly relations with the Imperial Government was moved, this to be tho uext business, and was carried unanimously.

The Xatal Government telegraphed to the Imperial Government asking if it wns prepared, if approached by Dinizulu, to provide money to assist his defence. Lord Crowe welcomed the message. He assumed that the amount would be at least equal to the instalment of Dinizuht’s salary, which tho Imperial Government intended to ply.
