United Press Association. Copyright (Received July 19, 4.15 p.m.) LONDON, July 18. At the Olympic games, Beaurepair e (Victoria) won liis heat in the 10U metres swimming race. Ta.rtakover (N.S.W.) was second in another heat. Kerr smutched in the final of the 10 miles walk, which was won by Larner in lhr lomin 57sec, establishing an amateur record.
[Lamer, the winner of the 10 mile walk, is a policeman, and holds the world’s amateur record! for the following distances:—l mile, 6min 25 3-5 sec ; 2 miles, 13min 11 2-osee; 3 miles, 20min 25 4-ssec; 4 miles, 27min 14 sec; 5 miles, 36min 0 l-ssec; G miles, 43min 26 l-ssec ; 7 miles, 50min 50 4-5 sec; and 8 miles, 58min 18 2-ssec. His times for 2 miles, 4 miles, 7 miles, and 8 miles are faster than the professional records.]
