. SYDNEY, July. 18. Ihe amateur golf championship of Australia was won by Pearce, who defeated Christie by 10 up and 8 to play.
[Bruce Pearce, Tasmania, who is as yet but a lad in Jus teens, has achieved a remarkable success in winning the open championship and the amateur championship, within a week. It is notable, also, that whilst he defeated the holder of the amateur chain-, pionship, Hon. Mr. Scott (Victoria/ in the semi-finals, lie was in turn beaten by that player in the teams match on Thursday.]
