.Trouble is likely to ensue over an incident which occurred at the RugI'.v -root-ball match between the Britons aml the Wairarapa -representative team -at -Masterton, At tho last meeting of the New Zealand Rugby • Union «. letter was received from the Wajrarapa -Union cavering a communication- which had been received front Sergeant Miller. In this it was stated t-h&t the police had been requested to move a man from the stand, and the individual in question had now given the sergeant* notice that he intended bringing an action- against him- for £2OO for -alleged assault. Under tlm circumstances the sergeant wished to know if the New Zealand Rugby Union would bear the cost of defending the action. The secretary of the AVaiiurapa. Union- explained in his letter that- a seat in- front of the stand had been reserved for _ the non-playing members of the visiting term, Rugby Union officials, and others. Several spectators, however, persisted in occupying these seats, and eighteen of them wero removed by Sergeant Miller at the instance of the union. After. considering the case it‘was decided that the governing body would bear tho expense of defending any action that might- bo taken, "
