Canterbury is at skl. There is a better demand for beef, owing to the reported scarcity in America, but there is no change in price. 'Butter is firm, nvitli a good demand. The stock of New Zealand butter is exhausted. Danish is quoted at 112 s, Australian 104 s, and Siberian 102 s per owl. The cheese market is quiet, but there is a fair demand for the better grades. White makes, of which, there is a small .supply, are quoted at G2s; colored, .which is in largo"supply, as at 57s per cwt. Tlie hemp market is quiet, with small business doing. The following are the current quotations: Good, fair grade, on spot, £26 10s; fair grade, on spot, £24 lQs;fair current (Manila, on snot, £24 10s; July to September. eTiipments, good fair grade. £27, fair grade, £25; fair current Manila £25 per ton. The wool market is quiet, but steady. Current quotations for Bradford tops are as follows: 36’s (low crossbred) 9Jd, 40’s (low crossbreds) lljd, 44’s (medium crossbreds) llld, 50’s (halfdareds) Is 33d, 56’s (quarter breds) Is Old, GO’s (merinos) Is 9d.
