THE DAY OF RECKONING.
CARDINAL LOGUE’S DENIAL, “A PURE INVENTION.” United Press Association —Copy-ri'arht LONDON, June 14. Cardinal Logue lias returned to Ireland, He declared that the interview cabled on the -14th of-May was a pure invention. He had never stated that Australia and New Zealand were on the verge of rebellion. He had never referred to India, He admitted stating in a New York drawing-room that when Britain became old and infirm it was likely to receive the coup-de-rrrace from Irish subjects whom it was sending to foreign lauds and who went with vengeance in their hearts. [Cardinal . Logue, interviewed' at New York, said ho saw signs of Great Britain’s certain separation from the colonies, which were becoming restivo. Australia to-day was practically independent, and the trend every moment was more And; more in the direction of absolute rebellion. New Zealand was indifferent, but Canada, was legislating in a manner showing her desire to conduct her business in her own way. Tho fires of rebellion were already lighted in India, and men and women were hanged for daring to advocate the doctrine of a never-dying freedom. When England sits alone as the result of misgovernment, it will be a day of reckoning for the children of Ireland.]
