OUSSEN AND AVILSON AVIN
FINAL
Tho final round of the Gisborne Club’s Pairs Handicap was played yesterday afternoon between Redstone and AV. R. Clarkson (skip), roc. 9, and AVilson and Cusson (skip), roe. 12. A game that was interesting throughout and providing ample excitement towards the close left Cusson and his partner victorious by the narrow margin of ono point. AVilson, though occasionally erratic, played an excellent, lead, but Redstone was scarcely jn his best form, though ho played many first-class heads. Clarkson also was not so reliable as usual, but lie finished with great determination and almost snatched the victory. Cusson was in excellent form, nncUatrtimes accomplished some fine Cussen’s pair held tlie IcmTvijOin the commencement until tlie 18th Jiead, when Clarkson scored a five, which put him in front for the first time- with a one-point lead. On tlie next Jiead Clarkson lay soren, bub Cussen with his last bowl drew tbo shot. On tlie next head Clarkson scored a single, and.the last head was commenced with even scores. Thanks to AVilson’s good play, when the skips went down Cussen lay three, and although Clarkson put ■in four fine shots lie could only reduce tile advantage by two, and a measure at the finish showed Cussen lying one. The scores after each head were as follows, Clarkson’s score being mentioned first in each instonce:—l—3, I—s, 4—5, 4—6, 5—6, 5—7, 5—9, 6—9, 6—12. 6—13, B—l 3, 11—13; 11 ’—l7, 12—17. 13—17. IS—l7, 18—18, L 9—18,19—19, 19—20.
