(Special to “Times!”) AUCKLAND, June 9. THE VANCOUVER. SERVICE. Sir James Mills, managing director of Hie Union Steamship Company, is at present in'.Auckland, en route to Canada. Interviewed by a “Star” reporter. Mr. Mills said that ho was proceeding .to Canada, to arrange for a further extension of the Vancouver service at the eml' of ilhe present contract (1908). It is proposed that the new service siltoulcl be comprised of The latest reports from tflie'Muritai wreck state that only the forecastle now remains. It is expected that the vessel will completely disappear an :a very short while. THE CHINESE BOYCOTT. IlTsbane files to hand state that the Kumano Marti lia6 arrived from the East and the officers report that the Chinese boycott against the Japanese had assumed serious dimensions, and was being greatly felt by the Japs. It had extended throughout. the southern parts of China, and was still spreading without the slightest hope of being declared off.. It was estimated that the Japanese, chiefly the shipping companies, were losing over £1,900,000 per year. The officers stated fill at the Germans, who were behind the Chinese, were benefiting to an .enormous extent, particularly the chipping companies, whose vessete are now carrying cargoes of cotton yarn from Japan to China which cargoes, prior to the boycott, were carried by the Japanese liners.
