GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS.
THE PREMIER'S BUILDINGS SCHEME. UNNECESSARY EXPENDITURE. (Special to “Timer,.”! WELLINGTON, June 7. Wellington continues to have .considerable sums of money spent on its Government buildings. A tender of £2289 lias just been accepted for additions to the Supreme Courthouse. The Public Trust Office, a large and costly building, is at present in course of erection, and presently very large additions will be made to the Post Office. In addition to all this there is the Premier’s building scheme for a new Parliament House, new Government House, and new Departmental Buildings. These important works should keep Wellington builders busy for the next two or three years, involving an expenditure of many thousands of pounds. Even Wellington people, however, think the Government’s ideas in the matter of public buildings aro unnecessarily large, and that both the present Government House, and the present Departmental Buildings are sufficient for the requirements of the next decade or even longer.
