ESCAPED PRISONER.

A SPEEDY RECAPTURE. Press Association. LYTTELTON, Juno' 7. William Bell, serving a short sentence in Lyttelton gaol for bicycle stealing, escaped from the inner courtyard this morning. Tho prisoner scaled the inside walls of the building by means of spiked railings. Ho lowered himself down the outside wall by means of a 24ft lino made from hammock rope. He-made his >vay rip the hillside, but was recaptured after a slight resistance behind the signal station. Bell had only a month to serve to complete his scntenco. Ho made an escape about a fortnight ago, lint was recaptured before going far.
