Yesterday afternoon was set -aside for a representative match between a selected team from tlio Thursday clubs and a team front the Saturday players. Neither sido lined out us originally chosen, the Saturday men being particularly short. The first spell was’ chiefly confined to tho forwards, and from a spectator’s point of view was decidedly uninteresting. The Reds’ first score came from a penalty luck ill their opponents’ twenty-live, and Brown landed a good goal. Saturday 3, Thursday nil. • Immediately on re-starting tho Blue forwards were nearly over from a loose rush, and from a free kick Pliflett equalised the scores. Tho Saturday reps, had tho best of a rathor scrambling game for eomo time, ami woro attacking, when from a scrum just outside the lino ltiwai got possession, and wriggled over. Brown failed with the kick. Saturday 6, Thursday 3. ltiwai was nearly in -again after a short passing run in which lie, Vallunee, and Afa 1 Joy were associated, but good tackling saved the situation. Loose ulay followed, and the backs onlv occasionally got going. Malloy obtained-the ball near the half-way line, and running ''towards tlio centre transferred to Rowe, who, after dodging a coup,"o of opponents, -transferred to Pine. The latter had no difficulty in scoring in a good position, and Brown added tho extra points. Saturday 11, Thursday 3. The whistle shortly afterwards sounded no-side, after a most uninteresting game, and with the scores unchanged. Rowe played tho best game he has done so far this season, and Vallance, Brown, and AVogan -also.played well in tho Reds’ back division; while Pinp and McKenzie were the best of the' forwards. For the Thursday men, Puflett at full-back played a good game, as also did Campbell and McLachlan the three-quarter line. Morse-and Scott were easily the best of the forwards. Mr. M. If. Walker officiated as referee.
