WOMEN AND CHILDREN KILLED QUIETNESS PREVAILS. United Press Association —Copy-right ATHENS, May 31. Turks killed eighty women and children on the first day at tSa-mos. These had taken refuge in the interior. Armed inhabitants are occupying tho heights around tho Vatlii.
(Received June 1, 11.25 p.m.) ATHENS, June 1. Tho Turkish (cruiser. HauikUeh, meeting a liostilo reception at V-at-tl, fired two rounds of blank cartridges, which stopped the firing from the island. Tranquillity now prevails. A semi-official -report from Athens states.that Turkish soliders repeatedly fired -at the Consulates. Those defending the governor’s palace fired at passers-by indiscrim ilia tely.
