ROUGH WEATHER.
DELAYS TO SHIPPING. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH,, June 1. A strong southerly gale, with heavy rain squalls, set in about 8 o’clock on Saturday night, and continued until yesterday morning, delaying shipping considerably. The big tramp steamer Otterburn had a rough trip down from Wellington, and the ferry steamer Mararoa was about three and a half hours late in arriving at Lyttelton. The collier Whangape, which left Wellington at about 4 p.m. on Saturday, did not arrive at Lyttelton until 9 o’clock last night, and- theCygnet, laden with sheep from Titirangi (Pelorus Sounds), was due at 9 o’clock yesterday morning, but did not. arrive until 5.30 p.m. The weather is calm to-day, but there was a hard frost this morning.
