FALLEN TROOPERS.

MEMORIAL SERVICE INTCHRISTCHURCH. A GRACEFUL TRIBUTE. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Juncl. The comrades of the troopers who fell in South Africa held a memorial service yesterday afternoon in Victoria Square, at the base of the statue of Queen Victoria. The ceremony was arranged by the newly-formed corps of Canterbury Scouts, who invited all returned troopers in North Canterbury to join with them in paying this tribute to the comrades who never returned. Tho Seoufs, numbering about forty, paraded in khaki, under the command of Captain Keddell, and they were followed by about twenty-five other returned troopers, the majority in mufti, and a few in volunteer uniforms. A memorial address was given by Archdeacon Averill. and a number of wreaths were arranged around the railing which guards the statue.
