GISBORNE WATERSIDE WORKERS’ AWARD. A CLAUSE RE STRIKES. Press Association. • AUCKLAND, Juno I. J lie Arbitration Court has given its award in the Gisborne dispute ro waterside workers. Tho hours of work are fixed from 8, a.m. to 5 p.in., exclusive of meal hours: wages, stevedores and general cargo work Is 6d per hour, overtime 2s Id per hour. Y .ben meals are required on board ship, tho employer shall supply them at sixpence each.
The Arbitration Court has included in its recent award respecting the dispute between the Gisborne AVatersido workers and their employers the following provision to deal’with “strikers The Union shall do all in its power to prevent any strike by any ol tlie workers affected by this award, and it any strike shall occur in which any members of this Union shall take part, such strike shall be prinia facie evidence that- the Union "has committed a breach of its duty. The Court reserves full power,' iu the event of such strike occurring, to suspend, on tho application of any of the employers, tlie operation of all or any part of tlie provisions of this award for such period as the Court shall think proper.
