THE AMOKURA.
HER RETURN TO WELLINGTON. MR TOWNLEY’S ADVICE. (Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 7. The training Ship Amokura returned to her usual anchorage off Tliorndon during the night. Who has been absent in the'-nortn for some months, chiefly in the Hauraki Gulf. The Amokura visited Tologa- Bay, Gisborne, and Napier on her way south and the lads were hospitably received wherever they put m. She made the journey South under canvas for the most part "and the boys worked the ship. There are sevonty-.six all told on board and sixty of them are boys. Captain Hooper, who is in command", brings his youthful crew into' the home port in .a first class state of health, and the vessel is in the .pink of cleanliness and good order, which speaks much for tlio' boys and those who have charge of theni. That the Amokura is too small for the purposes of a'training ship waS demonstrated again and again during the cruise. Mr Townley. tlio Mayor of Gisborne, who visited the vessel,when she called there, expressed himself as highly pleased with the boys’ appearances and lie took the opportunity of giving them a • little helpful advice upon making the host of their chances of learning habits of discipline and obedience which would be of incalculable use to them in after years.
