THE WELLINGTON LAND AGENT. POLICE ASKED TO INVESTIGATE (Press Association.) AA’EL LING TON, May 6. A warrant for tho arrest of A. C. Elliot, a bankrupt land and ostato agent of AA’el ling ton, has not been issued. Tiie police have been requested by some of the creditors to investigate matters, and liavb consented to do so, but steps will nob bo taken to bring the man back unless some of the creditors make application for his apprehension and guarantee expenses, or unless the Official Assignee can be shown that Elliot has left tho country with £2O cash or other property of that amount in bis possession. It is just possible that Cabinet may decide to take tho initiative. The Assignee states that ho cannot ascertain that the bankrupt has gone away from tho Dominion with an amount of _ property which would justify him m laying proceedings against Elliot, and although willing and anxious to meet the creditors in every possible way, ho dare not exceed his powers under the Bankruptcy Act.
