Bank of New Zealand -shares have a downward tendency, sellers reducing their quotation to £9 0s without- attracting a buyer. BUTTER. AUCKLAND, ALay 5. To-day there- were 15,125 boxes of butter in tlio cold storage factory. Supplies are now falling off rapidly, but there- is a fair quantity of tho dairy class coming in. The opinion is expressed that a majority of factories will consign on their own behalf next season. Tho stock of butter in cold storage in the Dominion on April 30 was 70,128 boxes, sufficient to supply the needs of New Zealand during tlio winter. GRAIN. CHRISTCHURCH, Alay 5. Merchants and millers report that litte or no wheat is offering. The market is very firm, and that, in the absence of offers, no business can be done. Tho same may be said of oats, and orders are being filled out of store. ’l’llere is an enquiry for oats and chaff from Australia, but at present prices any business from .that quarter is likely "to be done in tlio South. A fair amount of business continues to bo done in potatoes at quotations.
