EMPLOYERS’ FEDERATION.
EXTENSION OF BRANCHES. WANGANUI COMPANY’S TROUBLE. (Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 5. Encouraging reports as to the prospective formation of branches of tlie New Zealand Employers’ Federation at Oainaru, Tiniaru, and Gisborne were received at a meeting of tho advisory board. A letter received by the board from tlie Wanganui Freezing Company stated that in February the hands demanded an increase in pay, stating that the work would not be gone on with unless it was given, and the company, being busy, conceded tho demands. The facts wore brought before the Minister of Labor .and the inspector replied that no strike had taken place,the company voluntarily giving an increase,and that no action oould be taken by the department. The company, on the other hand, says that it was forced l to agree to the demands, which were granted under protest.
