FOOTBALL
FORMATION OF NEW CLUB. A well attended meeting of Thursday footballers was held in Mr. Cutlibert Morse’s saloon last night for tlio purpose of forming one of the four proposed clubs to take part in the competition. Mr. C. Morse was voted to the chair. It was unanimously decided that a club bo formed, to he called the Gisborne Football Club, and that the playing colors be pale blue jersey and black knickers. The election of office-bearers was held, and resulted as follows: President, Mr. D. J. Barry; vice-presi-dents, Dr. WJilliams, Messrs T. Clarkson, It. Johnston, IV. Morgan, It. Seymour, R. Robertson, G. B. Oman, R. S. Chilton, J. F. Pettie, and J. A. Lucas; captain, J. Shaw Thompson; vice-captain, Autini Pitara Kaipara; secretary, M. Ansell; treasurer, C. Morse: management committee, A. McConnell, A. E. Lyford, F. Seymour ; selection committee, Captain, vice-captain, and J. Newton; delegato to P.B. Rugby Union, C. Morse. It was decided to hold a practice match between A and B teams on Thursday next on the Domain. The club promises to have a very successful season, judging from the number of members who have already signified their intention of joining, and also from the enthusiastic nature of the inaugural meeting last night.
