MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
.POLLING DAY. The electi’oll3 for the office of Alayor of Gisborne for the ensuing year, and for the vacancy, on the Borough Council will take place to-day. There will be .three polling booths, one in His Alajesty’s Theatre, one in the drill hall, Lowe Street, and one at AViarner’s store, on the corner of Roebuck Road and Palmerston Road. All the booths will ho open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and will be in charge of capable deputies. It. is anticipated that most of-the voting .will he done in . the;two central booths. ■ It. .is requested that electors will vote as early , in. the. day as possible, and will fin'd out their numbers on tho roll■:before they enter the booth, j Two,separate ballot-papers of different colors , will bo issued for the election; for Alayor and Councillor, and tlie vote may be recorded either by, striking out the name they do not want, to vote for, or by placing a cross (X) opposite the name they wish to vote for, both ways of voting being valid. ' ' The voting papers for Alayor will bo counted first, and as soon as the result is known it will be announced in the Theatre, which will be open to the public. .ITlie returns for councillor will then bo counted, and when that has been completed the returning officer (Air. H. AI. Porter) .will declare tlio successful candidates elected, and allow - them to address those present. The candidates arc; For Alayor— Mr. AV. D. Lvsaiar. Dr. J. AV. AVilliams. For Councillor: Air. George Dar.toir. Mr. AV. J. P. Gaiidiu. Mr. ,F. Harris. One candidate to be elected in each instance.
