HIDF. EXPORT. • NEW .REGULATIONS. Many states of the Co mo nm wealth have strict regulations to prevent the introduction of disease and infected hides within their borders. Last month a new set of regulations were issued and are as follows: QUEENSLAND. The importation or introduction into Queensland of the carcase ol any stock from the Dominion of New Zealand, unless same is accompanied by a declaration by the owner thereof and a certificate of a- Government inspector of Stock declaring and certifying respectively that such carcase is not affected with anthrax or any other desease is prohibited for a period of two years from 29th August, 1907. Such declaration and certificate shall, in respect of hides, declare and certify in addition to the foregoing particulars that such hides have.been throughly salted and stacked for a period of not less than seven days. Note.—The term “carcase” includes hides. NEW SOUTH WALES. The importation of hides into New South Wales is allowed if accompanied by a certificate of freedom from disease. VICTORIA.' Before any hides are landed at any place within Victoria from any vessel, the master of such vessel shall produce to the Chief Inspector ot Stock a certificate from an inspector of stock at the port of shipment veilfying that such hides havo been throughly and effectively salted. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. The importation of hides into South Australia is allowed ii .accompanied by an owner’s declaration and a Stock Inspector’s certificate that the hides have boon salted for not lees than seven days in 121 b of salt to each hide. WESTERN AUSTRALIA The importation of hides into Western Australia is allowed. TASMANIA. No hides other than those which, to the satisfaction of an Inspector, arc either taken from .animals slaughtered for human consumption or in boiling down establishments, and in either caso free from disease, shall be imported into Tasmania; and the ports of landing shall bo Hobart, Launceston, Straliau, Devenport, Ulverstonc, Penguin, Bunue, V vnyard, Duck River, and Stanley only. Any Inspector may seize any hides which he mav reasonably suspect to have been landed or imported m contravention •of the regulations, and upon proof of such contravention may, with the approval of tho responsible Minister of the Crown for tho time being administering “The Department of Agriculture Act, 1897,” destroy or dispose of the same as lie shall think fit.
