Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 20. iMr. Goq. G. Stead was seized with a serious fainting fit at lticcarton racecourse to-day, just after the finish of the second race, the Champagne Stakes, which was won by his filly Golden Slipper. Medical aid was forthcoming immediately, and Mr. Stead was taken home, but his condition. to-night had only improved slightly. WELLINGTON, April 20. -At Christchurch, after the second race to-day, Mr. G. G. Stead was taken suddenly ill, and was removed to his home. The doctor, after a cursory examination, states that he thinks it to be paralytic seizure, affecting the legs.
