CLUBS MEET AT AUCKLAND. (Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 18. Tho annual conference of the Fedora ted Catholic Clubs was opened in tiie Marist Brothers’ Old Boys’ Club rooms this afternoon. Tho representation was, as follows Auckland, 'Messrs. Shanley and Furlong; Oneliiinga, Messrs.' 'Patton and Morris; New Plymouth, Mr. V. O’Brien; Wanganui, -Messrs. -Murphy and Dorvan; Hastings, Air. O’Shea; Palmerston North, Air. McGovern (proxy); Petoiie, • Mr. Gallagher; AVellington, Messrs. McGowan and Callaghan; Blenheim, 'Messrs. Faina and -Shaw; CJreymoutb, -•'Messrs. •Aliilholland and Kemble; Hokitika, Air. Ala lion; Christchurch, Messrs. Ainger and Slninley; Ashburton, Air. Urcadon; Temukn, Messrs. Barry andjSlianaghan; South Dunedin, Air. Handers; Invercargill, Air. Knight; Federation, Messrs. Casey and- McGovern. The Rev. Fathers O’Donnell, Doyle, Holbrook, Zaun, and 'Bro. George were also present. The Rev. Father Holbrook made an address of welcome, in the absence of the Bishop and tho Vicar-General. :Alr. A.,H. Casey, president of tho Federation, opened the proceedings briefly. He said the Alarist- Bros.’ Club holds its annual communion to-morrow morning, when the delegates would also receive the sacranient.X A harbor excursion had been arranged for (Sunday afternoon. The annual, report stated that-since the.lasi conference, clubs established ■ at New Plymouth. Onehunga, and Hastings had joined tho Federation. There were, how 18 clubs affiliated, and there were prospects of clubs being formed in a dozen other places. Oratorical competitions had been held by a number of the clubs in October for diplomas of merit awarded by the federal executive. The “Catholic Alagazine” was in a satisfactory position. The Very I!cv. Father O’Shea (AVellington), Sir George Clifford (Christchurch), and Air. AV. G. ALalonc (New Plymouth) had been elected honorary menibers. The Rev. Father Kimbell, who had been transferred from AA r eliington, had been succeeded by the Rev. Father A'enning. The magazine account and tho general account both showed a credit balance.
