Regret was expressed in sporting circles when the news was circulated that Elevation was lame, and those who bad anticipated a great equino battle between tho New Zealand horso and Mountain King are likely to bo doomed to disappointment. Elevation had done a ding-dong mile with Castaway. The latter had a couple of lengths’ advantage at the start, but Elevation was « .nock in front at the finish in lrnin 45see. The New Zealand horse was found to be lame at the conclusion of the gallop.
