The Prime Alinister, who reached Lawrence to-day, will also visit Roxburgh and Tapanui this week. 110 will pr-qpeed to Invercargill on Wednesday night, and on Saturday will go through by train a®d steamer to Wellington, which he expects to reach on Sunday. DUNEDIN, April 13. At Bnlclutha to-day a deputation waited on tho Hon. R, McNab, with a request that the Government should acquire Clifton- and Otanomomo estates for closer settlement. The former estate comprises 15,675 acres and the latter 5406 acres. The deputation stated that Clifton would settle from 70 to SO farmers, while Otanomomo wonkl provide land for about 36. Tho Alinister admitted there was. a very keen demand for land ini the south. He said the chairman of the Land Purchase Board-mas at- present in - the South Island looking at a number of .properties under offer, and he would communicate with him at once, -and get him -to view .Clifton, estate. The Minister subsequently proceeded to* Tuapeki mouth.
