PRASERTOAVN. (From our own Correspondent.) Tho first match of tho sixth season of tlio To Knpu lliile Club was held on tho local rango on Saturday. Tho ranges woro 200, 300 and 500 yards. Thoro was a splondid attendance, no less than eighteen membors competing, but, considering the day, tlio shooting was not what it should have boon. The idea of one mail only shooting at each targot, as introduced at Trentham, was tried for tlio first time herb. It met with unanimous approval, mid will bo adopted at nil future matches. Rifleman T. Powdrell with a scoro of 94 (including 2 points handicap) camo out top for tlio day. This win nindo it liis third one for the marble clock, and ho thus won tlio trophy outright. Tlio other chief scorers woreOaptain Chapman 90, Rifleman AV. G. Conner 91, A. AV. Soiiu-dy 90, F. Steed 8S A. E. Reckctt 86. At a committeo meeting held after the match it was decided to hold an “Intermediate” handicap iualcli on 23rd May next, ranges 200, 500, and 600 yards. The eight- highest scores at this match will count- towards the seoro for tho teams match in connection with the “Daily Mail’s” “oversea” annual competition held on the snmo day. It was also decided to allot a gold medal to tlio member making tho highest aggregate score in tho Government Parado date matches, and also ono to the highest aggregate among tho junior members. , Tho rainfall for March was as follows :—sth,'l.sS; Bth, 1.18; 9tli, .27; •11th, .05; loth, .42; 16th, 1.15; 18tli, .12; 20th, 4.12; 21st and 22nd, 4.69; 23rd, .70; 24th, .20; 25th, 1.28; 26tli, .84; '27th and 30th, .04. Total for the month, 15.39 inches. The “southerly buster” which set in on Sunday evening.is still raging at tlie time of writing. From 7 p.m. on Sunday evening to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, 5.16' inches of rain fell. The river was in high flood, bringing down large quantities of driftwood. Heavy slins on tho AVaikaremoana road prevented the mail coach from Lake House getting down on Tuesday, the passengers having to walk the last five miles of tho road to Frasertown, in a downpour of rain, and in mud up to t-lieir knees. The Gisborne mail coach via Tiniroto got through up to- time on Tuesday without meeting anything serious in the way or slips. .
