TELEGRAPH OPERATOR KILLED

RUN OVER BY A MOTOR CAR

Press Association. WELLINGTON. April 5. Murdoch Gillies, a telegraph operator employed in tiic Wellington office, was killed on the Butt road this afternoon. He was cycling along the road with a companion, and ill attemptin<r to cross in front of a motor car was knocked down, the car passing over liis body. He expired almost immediately. The car was owned bv Goringe Johnston, and was driven by a chalfeur named Burling. The occupants of the car were Johnston anil p Grace and two ladies. Gillies was 2ij years of age and unmarried, and ■was the son of a farmer at Tapanui.
