MINISTER FOR EDUCATION.

THE SCHOOL JOURNAL CONSEBV ATORTUM OF MUSIC Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH* April 2. ' After the Exhibition was closed and the buildings removed the site was left iu a very unsatisfactory condition, and correspondence on the subject had been going on for some time between the Domain Board and the Government, with little or no result. This morning the Board interviewed Mr. Fowlds, and conducted him over the site, in Hagley Park, endeavouring to prove to him the reasonableness of .the Board’s request for £SOO to defray the cost of restoring tho site to its original condition in accordance with the provisions attached to the granting of the site. Mr. Fowlds offered £4OO to close the matter, and -the Board .will consider the offer at the next meeting; Mr. Fowlds mot other deputations, and will leave for Dunedin by the express to-morrow. Mr. Fowlds speaks highly of the School Journal, which lie said was making excellent progress. He found that during the North Island tour the Journal was very popular with teachers. The next issue will cont iin illustrations. The full value of the Journal would not be realised till the Boards have' their examinations at the end of the year. If that were done schools would be able to follow the plan of work adopted by the Journal.
