Quite an unusual number of applications for relief are being anade to the local benevolent institution trustees in regard t 0 cases of deserted wives. .It was suggested '.at yesterday’s meeting that endeavors bo made to secure the- co-operation of local societies for the protection of the interests of women and children to the end that offenders may be brought to hook. The suggestion metwith approval from some of the members, but nothing to give effect t<> it was decided upon.
