A Press Association telegram states that Superintendent Hugo, of the Wellington Fire Brigade, has been appointed Inspector of iFire .Boards for the Dominion. , , < u Mr: F. Harris, licensee of the Albion Hotel has decided to stand, as a candidate for the seat on the Gisborne Borough Council vacant through the resignation of Mr. W. Miller. Mrs Parker, housekeeper at the Masonic Hotel, returned homo from a trip to Australia by the Waikare this morning. Mr W. F. Grenfell representing Messrs Reid and Gray Christchurch who has been in Gisborne for the past week, was a. passenger by the Mokoia for South last night. Mr. A. G. Henderson, assistant editor of the “Lyttelton Times,” spent a few hours in Gisborne yesterday. ployees of the. Post Office gathered together last night to bid farewell to Mr S. ; Gumming, who has been transferred to Oamaru. Mr. W. H. Renner, on behalf of the gathering, presented Mr. Cummlng with a very handsome marble clock, as a token of the esteem in which he was held by all, .and in so doing referred j:o his successor, Mr. Livick, who was present. Mr Cumming suitably responded, and Mr. Livic’k also said a few words, referring to the pleasant prospect of his work in Gisborne.
