DR. WILLIAMS’ CANDIDATURE

A largely attended meeting of .supporters of Dr. William,s for the office of Mayqr of Gisborne was held in Townley’s Hall last evening. Mr. 0. A. DeLautour was voted to the chair, and after a few introductory remarks called upon the doctor to place, his views on various municipal questions before those present. |)r. Williams, on rising to speak, was received with hearty applause. He outlined his views on the leading municipal questions now before the ratepayers, and his remarks were frequently applauded. A number of questions were asked, aiid satisfactorily unsworn!, and those present formed themselves into a committee, with an executive of sixteen members, to work to secure the return of the candidate:' A veto of thanks was passed to the chairman for presiding. The executive committee subsequently met, went through the ratepayers’ roll, and made arrangements for a systematic canvass of the borough. Dr. Williams will talco the opportunity of addressing the electors at an early date. MR. W. J). LYSNAR’S CANDIDATURE. ..A meeting of Mr. W. D. Lysnar s committee was held last evening. The ratepayers’ roll was gone through, and arrangements made tor a canvass of votes. Other routine business was transacted, and the meeting closed.
