The local branch of the New Zealand Political Reform League unanimously deckled to invite Mr Cooper, a member of the Colonial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, to contest the Pahiatua seat in the Opposition interests. ELTHAM, March 30. D. L. A. Astbury, farmer, who contested Hawera some time ago, announces himself as a Government candidate for Egmont against allcomers. Three Opposition and three Government candidates are now out, and more may come. THE ELLESMERE SEAT. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 30. Mr. S. Harris, of Little River, has been asked to come forward as a candidate for the Ellesmere seat at the general election. Sir. Harris has consented to do so, and will commence an active canvass on his return from England.
